A Heart for Romanian Orphans – IRadio Guest: Miss Jacci Knight and Miss Sarah Berchtold
Summary: You’ve seen the photographs in magazines and on TV: the haunting, wide-eyed expressions of orphaned Romanian children who are aching for love. “But they’re halfway around the world, what can I do about it?” you ask. Tune in today to find out! You’ll hear about the tremendous need for assistance, as well as an outpouring of response to that need. It’s time to turn your emotions into action, and we’ll tell you how. Be sure to watch Sarah’s music video “Unwanted” and Jacci’s Global Hope slide show.
For more information about how you can get involved with these two outreaches, please visit Jacci’s ministry: Global Hope and Sarah’s ministry: Firm Foundations.
Jacci Knight has been involved with Global Hope since 1998, when she went on her first mission to trip to Arad, Romania. In September of 1999 she became Global Hope’s first long-term missionary, working for over four years with the children in Arad. She now works as an Associate Producer for the Focus on the Family daily radio broadcast in Colorado Springs and polishes her Romanian language skills by serving as the Director of Romanian Operations for Global Hope.
Sarah Berchtold learned at an early age that you need to be strong to be heard. Growing up she knew that she wanted to go overseas and help. Sarah first came to Romania in November 2003 with Youth with a Mission to work with street kids and orphans. She fell in love with Brasov and came back independently the following year. After the state orphanages closed down in 2005, Sarah and a friend ventured to the Brasov Children's Hospital to find the children that were still in a social crisis. Four years later, Sarah became the president of Firm Foundations Romania. She received her Romanian residency in 2009 and considers Brasov her second home.
